I’m Charlie Webster, Director of New Century Ministries

In my youth I prayed that God would lead me into a career where I could serve Him by helping others know Him better, but I wound up serving the Lord as an engineer on the Space Shuttle program. Then in 1999, my wife of 31 years died of breast cancer. That devastated me at the time and it can still bring me to tears, but it opened new doors.

Not too long after my wife died I met and married the wonderful woman who has been my wife and my inspiration for the past 10+ years. I retired from the space business and returned to school to earn my Masters degree in New Testament. For the next two years I taught school — including New Testament courses for a Christian college.

Then NASA asked me to work for them again — this time part time from my home. That gave me time to get serious about the writing I had long wanted to do. The project closest to my heart involved helping Christians have a better, more exciting understanding of Christianity — especially the things we so often miss that God intends to thrill us as his children.

The book that resulted, Revitalizing Christianity, grew from three studies I had done for small groups to six sessions I led for a Christian workshop at Johnson University and then finally to the twelve chapters that now make up Revitalizing Christianity. It is my daily prayer that this book, the workshops, the Study Guide I have just completed, and the Simplified New Testament with Notes I’m working on now will help Christians regain the sense of joy and excitement that so characterized the early church.
